Abstract

1,267,003. Weft inserters. R. DEWAS. 2 June, 1970 [2 June, 1969; 21 Aug., 1969], No. 26482/70. Heading D1E. In a flexible tape weft inserter I formed of at least two superposed perforated strips 2, 3, connected only at their front end and driven by a toothed wheel 8 or wheels (Fig. 4, not shown) the strips are arranged with different numbers of perforations between the upper and lower zones of engagement with the wheel 8 so that they run separated from each other and the side wall 12, 13 of their guide over the curved portion of their path of travel. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) the innermost strip is engaged with the driving wheel over the whole of its curved portion. Separate upper and lower driving wheels (14) (15), Fig. 4 (not shown) connected by a pinion (16) may be provided. The radius of the driving wheel may be smaller (Fig. 3, not shown) or larger (not shown) than the radius of the curved portion of the tape.
