Arcuate section bars 6 of circular cross-section are mounted on the underside of a vehicle seat frame 5 and are supported in bearing blocks 8 fixed to a displaceable upper section 7 of a conventional seat slide 3 so that the inclination of the seat may be adjusted. The seat is locked in its adjusted position by the engagement of a spring- loaded locking lever 11 which is articulated to the seat frame 5 with a detent strip 10 attached to the upper section 7. In a second embodiment, Fig.6, the longitudinal movement produced by the alteration of the seat is automatically compensated for by the rotation of a pinion 15 which is mounted in a bearing block attached to the bottom section 13 of the seat slide, meshes with a rack 12 on the upper section 71 and with an arcuate rack 19 on a member 18 pivoted to the seat frame 5 and is guided by its spindle 17 moving along an arcuate slot 16 in the member 18.
