Abstract

1,265,987. Gear finishing; rolling gears. WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK BAD DUBEN VEB. 30 Sept., 1969, No. 48013/69. Headings B3K and B3M. A gear finishing machine comprises two parallel shafts carrying gear finishing rolling tools 1, 2, work clamping means 6 pivotable towards one of said tools and biased by a spring 7 to a rest position, the work clamping means 6 also being pivotable about an axis perpendicular to the work gear axis to move the work gear out of parallelism with the tools i.e. for crowning. In a first embodiment (Fig. 1) one tool 1 is rigidly mounted on its drive shaft and movable in a feed direction towards the second tool to effect meshing engagement of the tools and workpiece, the second tool being angularly adjustable on its drive shaft within a range which is adjustable in magnitude and position and the two tools being driven synchronously during the machining operation. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, only one tool, 2 is driven and the second tool 1 is braked by a braking device 8. One (or preferably both) tool(s) are mounted on slides 9, 12 spring loaded by spring means 11, the slide 9 being fed towards the work by a feed piston 10. The work clamping means are again pivotable for crowning.
