Abstract

126,515. Nieuport & General Aircraft Co., Folland, H. P., and Preston, H. E. June 14, 1918. Hinges and pivots. - Aerofoils are connected to one another or to the fuselage by two or more joints, each consisting of two pairs of jaws a<1>, b<1>, at right angles to each other; the jaws b' carry a rectangular block c and pin d, and the jaws a'carry a pin e passing through the block c and pin d. The pin may be replaced by two pins on the block c, the jaws b<1> being modified to enable the blocks to be assembled. The pin e is secured by a nut e<2>, and has an elongated head e<1> with screw slot, while a cover plate h may be secured to the aerofoils. The block c and pin d are a close fit, but the block may be made shorter, and the pin longer, to correct any inaccurate placing of the joints. The Provisional Specification states also that the pin e may have a tapered end screwing into the lower jaw a<1>, and may pass through the block clear of the pin d.
