1,264,107. Sulphonamides. CHINOIN GYOGYSZERES VEGYESZETI TERMEKEK GYARA RT. 27 April, 1970, No. 20163/70. Heading C2C. Novel compounds I (including salts thereof) where R is H or acyl and He signifies a 5- or 6- membered monocyclic N-containing heterocycle, e.g. pyridine or pyrimidine, optionally substituted by alkyl(s), are made by reacting II (R<SP>1</SP> is acyl and the CH 3 group is attached to an α-carbon atom with reapect to a N-atom of He) with 5-nitro-2-furfural (III) or a compound capable of forming III under the reaction conditions; the products can be hydrolysed to afford I in which R is H. Pharmaceutical preparations, especially suitable for the treatment and prophylaxis of gastrointestinal infections, contain I as active ingredient; administration is, e.g. orally or parenterally.
