Abstract

In a dynamoelectric machine, e.g. motor, including a stator 13 and a cylindrical solid iron rotor 15 having radially spaced rows A ... D of axial passages opening at both rotor end faces, the passages in adjacent rows are circumferentially offset to define several radially spaced regions E ... I each carrying a portion of the rotor flux with the radial dimensions between the outermost row D and the rotor outer periphery being less than that between the innermost row A and the rotor bore, and a cooling device is mounted to cause a cooling gas flow longitudinally throughout the length of the rotor passages. As shown, the rotor is east, the device comprises a motor 35 driving a fan 31 which sucks high-velocity air through the rotor and the motor embodies a tachometer 22 having leads 23.
