Abstract

1,263,649. Hand coating apparatus. H. PFOHL. 30 Oct. , 1970 [11 Nov., 1969], No. 51643/70. Heading B2L. Hand coating apparatus comprises a container 5 having a discharge opening 4 normally closed by a feed roller 6 and an application roller 1 rotatably mounted on a pivotable support 3 so that when in use the roller 1 lifts the roller 6 to allow coating liquid to be transferred to the applicator roller 1 by the feed roller 6. The shaft 2' of the roller 1 can be located in any of a number of holes 8' in the support 3 and the pivot point of the support 3 can be altered so that any one of a number of holes 8 therein is located of fixed pins 9 the effect of either or both of these adjustments being to alter the effective length 'L' and hence control the rate of flow of coating medium by altering the amount of lift given to the roller 6. Stops 10, 11 are provided to limit the movement of the support 3. In one direction of movement coating medium can be dispensed and in the other direction the roller 1 can be used to spread the medium without supplying any more (dotted position). The support 3 may be of resilient material and a handle 12 may be provided.
