Abstract
1,263,416. Monoazo dyes. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 28 July, 1970 [16 Aug., 1969], No. 36511/70. Heading C4P. Monoazo dyestuffs free from sulphonic acid groups have the formula wherein A is an optionally substituted aromatic carbocyclic or heterocyclic radical; X and Y are hydrogen, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, or C 1 -C 4 alkoxy; and R<SP>1</SP> is where R<SP>111</SP> is an alkyl or aryl radical; n is 2, 3 or 4 and R<SP>11</SP> is a #-haloalkyl group. A is preferably a phenyl or naphthyl residue substituted by alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, halogen, cyanogen, phenyloxy, trifluoromethyl, nitro, alkysulphonyl, carboxylic acid ester or amide groups. A may also be a thiazole, benzothiazole, thiophene, triazole, oxadiazole or thiadiazole radical optionally substituted by alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, nitro, acetyl, benzoyl or methylsulphonyl groups. The dyes are produced by coupling a diazotized amine of formula A-NH 2 with a coupling component of formula The coupling components of formula can be obtained by reacting the corresponding N,N- dihydroxyalkyl compounds with the corresponding haloformic acid esters in an organic solvent and in the presence of magnesium oxide. The corresponding N,N,di-# haloalkyl compounds may be produced as by-products. The dyes give red shades on hydrophobic fibres and textile materials.
