Abstract
1,262,390. Hydroxamoyl chlorides and N- (hydroxy)thioacylimidates. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 24 Dec., 1969 [27 Dec., 1968], No. 62891/69. Heading C2C. Hydroxamoyl chlorides, ClC(R 1 ) : NOH, in which R 1 is C 1-4 alkyl or C 2-5 alkoxyalkyl, are prepared by chlorinating an oximino-ketone CH 3 COC(R 1 ) : NOH at from - 15 to +30 C., preferably between - 10 and + 10 C., in the presence of water, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol or mixtures thereof, and then (if desired without isolation) may be reacted with a mercaptor R 2 SH in a similar medium, adding a base to give a final pH of 5-9, to yield the corresponding N-hydroxy-thioacylimidates (R 2 is C 1-4 alkyl or C 3-4 alkenyl). The latter are easily converted to hydroxamate carbamate pesticides. 2 - Oximino - 3 - butanone is prepared by reacting methyl ethyl ketone with methyl nitrite in acid solution.
