Abstract

1,262,055. Self-sealing bag for vacuum cleaner. ELECTROLUX Ltd. 13 Aug., 1970 [5 Sept., 1969], No. 39062/70. Heading B1T. A disposable paper dust bag for a vacuum cleaner has a cardboard end plate with an aperture 14 therein bridged by a disc 15 of porous foamed rubber or polyurethane with one or more slits 16 therein, which allow an inlet tube to be pushed through the disc and which close again when the tube is withdrawn. As shown, two slits 16 form a cruciform shape, and disc 15 is sandwiched between two plies of plate 10 (Fig. 2, not shown). Or the disc could be stuck to one side of a single ply plate. Disc 15 is at least 3mm thick.
