Abstract
1,262,048. Film viewers. WALKER-PEN S.p.A. May 20, 1970 [May 24, 1969; April 17, 1970], No.24410/70. Heading G2A. [Also in Division B6] A viewer for an endless film-strip is in the form of an elongated casing, and may suitably be combined with a writing instrument such as a ball-point pen 15<SP>1</SP> . As shown, the casing comprises a bottom wall 14, side walls 16, 18, and a removable top cover 12. The endless film-strip 30 passes in two straight runs along the side walls 16, 18 and along a looped path at each end. At the viewing end, the film is guided round its looped path 30<SP>11</SP> by an arcuate partition 22. Light enters the device through a window 37, is reflected by an inclined mirror 39 so as to pass through the film frame located at a gate portion in partition 22, and is reflected by another inclined mirror 33 to the viewing lens 34. The film is fed by a slide 40, which is held in position by lugs 44 fixed to the bottom wall of the casing. A finger 40<SP>1</SP> on slide 40 projects through a slit 42 in cover 12, so that the slide can be operated from outside the device. A claw 46 of saw-tooth shape projects downwards from slide 40, and to change the picture being viewed, the slide is pushed to the right, Fig. 7. The claw-tooth 46 engages in a film perforation, and carries the film along. The film passes under a lug 58, to prevent it from forming an unwanted loop 56, and rides over another saw-tooth claw 52 projecting from the side wall 16. During the return stroke of the slide, claw-tooth 52 engages in a film perforation and retains the film against backward movement. Claw-tooth 46 rides over the film during this return movement, Fig.6 (not shown). A pair of sill members 48, 50 allow the film to be deflected downwards as tooth 46 rides back over the film.
