Abstract
1,261,879. Triorganotin sorbates. DEUTSCHE ADVANCE PRODUKTION G.m.b.H. 8 Jan., 1971 [10 Jan., 1970], No.1078/71. Heading C2J. The invention comprises compounds of general formula where R is C 1 -C 6 alkyl or phenyl. In the examples, tri-n-butyl tin sorbate and triphenyl tin sorbate are prepared by reaction of sorbic acid with bis(tri-n-butyl tin)oxide in benzene and triphenyl tin hydroxide in toluene respectively. The compounds have biocidal properties and are used in marine anti-fouling paints, wood treatment compositions and in solution in an organic solvent as textile impregnants, disinfectants and additives for dyes, plasticizers, cellulose, polyvinyl chloride, varnishes and paper pulp.
