Abstract
1,261,736. Drying pulverulent material. STEIN INDUSTRIE. 20 Feb., 1969 [22 Feb., 1968], No. 9327/69. Heading F4G. A drier and cooler includes a rotary drier drum 1 provided with a rolling track 5 of larger diameter whereby it is supported on and rotated by pneumatic tyres 2b and a heating hearth comprising drum 9 supported on carriage 11 and movable along the axis of drum 1 on rails 13. The heating hearth has oil or gas burners 14 providing hot gases for drying and also carries hopper 15 for feeding particulate material to drier 1. The cooler comprises a cylindrical extension 21 welded on to drum 1 and supported on and driven by pneumatic tyres 22 through rolling track 23. Bent steel plates 8, 26 rotate the material to be dried and cooled while vanes (not shown) advance it. Filter screens 16 remove dust from the drying and cooling gases prior to their ejection through chimney 20. The dried product overflows into helical hooded ducts 30 thence into the cooler where it contacts air introduced at 27. Then it falls into well 31. Lateral play of the drum may be taken up by friction rollers (6) (Fig. 2, not shown) mounted on vertical axes and bearing against the lateral surface 5a of the rolling track. These may also be pneumatic tyres.
