Abstract

1,261,704. Vehicle barriers. GODWIN WARREN ENG. Ltd. 7 May, 1969 [7 May, 1968], No. 21617/68. Heading E1G. An automatic one-way vehicle barrier-e.g. for prohibiting entrance to but permitting exit from a car park - comprises a series of gravity or spring-biassed plates 5 each upstanding from a road surface box in which it is so pivoted that vehicles striking the plate from one direction overcome the biassing means to move it to a horizontal position whereas vehicles striking the plate from the opposite direction are obstructed. The plates 5 carry warning reflectors. As shown each plate is gravity-biassed, being pivotally suspended, by flanges 10 and a roller 12, in a slot 9 at one end of a ground-embedded box and having a lower flange 8 abutting the box end wall 2.
