Abstract

1,261,441. Jacquards. MONSANTO CO. 29 Jan., 1969 [1 Feb., 1968], No. 4959/69. Headings D1E and D1K. In a Jacquard two card chains 10, 18 are used so that the reading needles 23 read a card from each chain simultaneously. As shown the main pattern chain 10 is surrounded by the multiplier card chain 18 which is arranged to move on one card when the main pattern chain has moved through one complete turn. The pattern cylinder 12, which is perforated moves towards and away from the neading needles for selection. The main pattern chain may surround the multiplier chain. In a modification (not shown) pusher needles act on the reading needles through the superimposed pattern cards. The apparatus is used to produce a multiply fabric having ten layers of wefts. At the commencement of weaving a number of warp ends are used but warps are added successively to both sides of the original warps to produce a fabric having a trapezoidal shape.
