Abstract

1,260,850. Steering instruction aid. G. D. RATCLIFFE. 22 Dec., 1969 [17 Jan., 1969], No. 3000/69. Heading B7H. An aid to be used to assist instruction of the manner in which to steer a vehicle comprises a plate 43 secured to the base 46 of a portable device carrying a steering wheel 42 which plate projects over the face of the wheel and can be supported in the hub of the wheel such that the four comers A, B, C, D constitute stops which prevent the hands of a user of the wheel from passing through the top and bottom regions whilst gripping the wheel. Such a device prevents a user from crossing his hands over whilst turning the wheel. A pivoted flap 48 may be mounted on the top half of the plate 43 and instructions may be printed on either side of the flap and corresponding portion of the plate 43 indicating the procedure to be adopted when simulating a right or left hand turn, the flap being pivoted to one or other position dependent on the direction of movement required. The plate 43 may be used on the steering arrangement described in Specification 1,260,849.
