Abstract

1,260,152. Battery cage systems. H. D. SHARMAN. 30 June, 1969 [25 April, 1968], No. 19524/68. Heading A1M. [Also in Division B8] A multi-tier battery system has droppings belts, 10A, 12A, 14A, beneath each tier. The droppings belts may be removed for cleaning by winding them onto mandrels 10B, 12B, 14B via guide roller 26. As the belts are removed they are cleaned by a scraper. At the far end of the cage system a cord 16, is passed through the ends of the belts and attached to the battery cage system at 18. The end of cord 16 remote from 18 is wound onto mandrel 20, the excess length being equal to twice the length of the battery system. When belt 10A is removed cord 16 is pulled beneath the tier and when belt 12A is removed, belt 10A is pulled back underneath the appropriate tier, &c. Finally belt 14A is drawn back underneath the appropriate tier by rewinding 16 onto mandrel 20. Reference is made to Specifications 1,104,761; 1,104,762; 1,122,734; 1,260,151; and 1,260,153.
