Abstract

1,259,736. Stay. J. C. A. BERTIN. 9 Feb., 1970 [13 Feb., 1969], No. 6046/70. Heading E2F. [Also in Division A4] A stay for a seat back 12 comprises a screwed rod 17 pivoted at 21 to the back to be rotatable relative to casing 1. Two opposed cones 15, 16, loosely screwed on the rod 17, are normally urged against complementary bearings 13, 14 by compression spring 26, and thus lock the rod. A cam drive 38 withdraws the cones from the bearings to allow the rod to turn freely whilst the overall length of the stay is altered. In further embodiment (Fig. 4) the opposed cones embrace the bearings and are forced together upon them. (For Figure see next page)
