Mills and apparatus; cracking nuts.-A machine for crushing the shells of nuts or hard-shelled fruits comprises a rotary disk and a stationary wall, the space between the disk and wall decreasing from the periphery to the centre, and the disk or wall being provided with a helical surface which gradually approaches the other surface in the direction of rotation of the disk. In the apparatus shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 6, two conical disks 4, carried by a shaft 3, are arranged in a casing 2, formed on each of the end walls and on each side of a middle wall w,ith a helical surface x. The disks are formed with radial conveying-ribs 14. The disks and the helical surfaces are formed with concentric teeth 20, 20a for pureventing the nuts from slipping. The nuts are placed in a hopper and fall through shoots 5 into the spaces between the disks and walls, the crushed nuts falling through the bottom of the casing.
