Abstract
125,934. Paramount Hosiery Form Drying Co., (Assignees of Gray, L. F.). April 26, 1918, [Convention date]. Shaping made-up goods upon internal frames. - A form on which hosiery is dried and shaped is provided with means for maintaining the hosiery in a stretched condition comprisprising a pile fabric such as plush or carpet, or an openmeshed fabric, secured to the form, preferably by a waterglass cement that is a good conductor of heat. As shown, a piece of the fabric 8 is secured to each side of a hosierv form 1, of the kind described in Specification 108,973, having a body with curved sides 4 and crease-forming edges 5 and made hollow to contain a heating-medium supplied thereto by a pipe 7, to which the base 6 of the form is secured. The hosiery is drawn on to the form and stretched until its lower end reaches one or other of the lines 11, whereupon the pile or other surface of the fabric 8 tends to maintain the hosiery in its stretched condition. A protector 13 of paper, metal, &c. may be secured to the form by waterglass cement to overlap the upper end of each piece of fabric 8 and prevent it from being damaged. The fabric 8 may be perforated to facilitate the access of heat to the hosiery over it.
