A side-by-side conjugate filament, the first component being an oxymethylene homo or copolymer and the second component being an olefin polymer containing up to 10% by weight of the olefin polymer of an oxymethylene homo or copolymer, the proportions of the first and second components being by volume from 1 : 9 to 9 :1 and preferably from 3 : 7 to 7 : 3. The polyolefin may be isotactic polypropylene which may be admixed with one or more stabilizers, lubricants, delusterants, pigments, dyestuffs or tinctorial modifiers and the blended oxymethylene homo or copolymer may be the same as the conjugated oxymethylene polymer. The conjugated oxymethylene polymer may be an acetylated or etherated homopolymer of formaldehyde or a copolymer of trioxane with 1,3-dioxane, 1,3- dioxolane, ethylene oxide, 1,3,5-trioxepane, hexahydrobenzotrioxepane, 2,3-ethylenedioxydioxane, trimethylene oxide or 3,5,8-trioxabicyclo-(4,4,0)decane. The two molten conjugate materials may be contacted (for not less than 10<SP>-3</SP> second when the second component is an olefin polymer) and then extruded preferably at 180‹ to 240‹ C., the filament may be drawn at a draw ratio of from 2 : 1 to 10 : 1 at 80‹ to 150‹ C., heat-treated under either free or wholly or partly hindered shrinkage and dyed with a plastosoluble or disperse dyestuff, when the less coloured polyolefin part of the filament is not discernable to the human eye. The filaments subjected to free or partly hindered heat-treatment have a permanent spiral crimp and in some cases a hand equal to wool.
