Abstract

1,259,006. Abrasive articles. MINNESOTA MINING & MFG. CO. 5 Feb., 1969, No. 6239/69. Heading C4V. An abrasive article comprises abrasive granules and a hardened binder which contains a multiplicity of hollow spherules filled with a grinding agent which rupture under grinding conditions. The spherules may be formed from organic or inorganic materials and numerous suitable materials are specified. Lubricants specified are petroleum oil, chlorinated hydrocarbons, iron pyrites, paraffin, divalent sulphur compounds, zinc, aluminium, sodium bisulphate and sodium hydroxide. Numerous suitable materials for the walls of the spherules are listed. The article may be a coated sheet material or a grinding wheel.
