Abstract

1,258,747. Liquid separator. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. 6 Oct., 1969 [15 Oct., 1968], No. 48930/68. Heading B1D. Valve 3 is closed by solenoid 5 to stop the downward flow of immiscible liquid layers in separator 1 when a liquid interface reaches capacitor plates 4, the change in the measured capacity causing the solenoid 5 to close valve 3. Separator 1 may be used for liquid/liquid extraction and may comprise a mixer (14) (Fig. 1, not shown) and a vertically movable tube for removing the upper layer.
