[Also in Division E1] A box girder comprises two end plates welded to two web plates, the web plates being thinner than the end plates, each end plate being flat except for bevelled edges and the welds being formed between the edges of the end plates and the sides of the web plates. The girder is produced by simultaneously passing the assembly of plates through two welders each having a pair of roller electrodes spaced apart to receive an end plate and the web plates to be welded thereto. The seam welds formed may be intermittent.
