Abstract
1,258,228. Flash-bulbs. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct.9, 1970 [Oct. 13, 1969], No.48158/70. Heading G2L. A photo flash-bulb has a body 1 of electrically insulating material through which two lead-in conductors 2, 3, pass to two respective electrically conducting layers 4 which are provided on one surface of the insulating body 1 and separated from one another by a gap, an ignition mass 6 being provided on the conducting layers and over the gap between them. The gap is preferably in the form of a groove 7 in the insulating body but may have various configurations, Figs, 1, 3, 4 and 5 (not shown). Where a groove is present the conducting layers extend down the vertical sides but not across the bottom of the groove. The conducting layers 4 may be of metal or SnO 2 or In 2 O 3 , applied by any known method, and the insulating body 1 may be of glass. The bulb has a zirconium wire filling 9 in an oxygen atmosphere in a glass body 8.
