Abstract

1,258,027. Bale breaker. H. HERGETH. 20 April, 1970 [7 May, 1969], No. 18704/70. Heading D1N. A bale breaker comprises a means 4 for pressing a bale upwardly against an opening device formed by an opener roller 14, a stripping roller 15 for removing fibrous material from the opener roller, a cleaning roller 17 for removing fibrous material from the stripping roller, and a shaker wall 20 which defines a collecting space for insufficiently opened fibrous material, the shaker wall extending in a vertical direction at least as high as the opener roller 14. As shown, the bale is moved upwardly by motor driven platform 4 against the opener roller. Fully opened material is removed by stripper roller 16 and insufficiently opened material collects between the shaker wall 20 and the opener roller. The latter is oscillated by its adjustable connection with the opener roller 14 so as to feed the insufficiently opened material against the opener roller 14 again. The height of insufficiently opened material can be controlled by sensing device 31 acting on the motor-driven platform 4.
