Abstract
1,257,644. Pile fabrics. CLARKE SON & MORLAND Ltd. and I. W. S. NOMINEE CO. Ltd. 21 Jan., 1969 [24 Jan., 1968], No. 3780/68. Heading D1K. [Also in Division C6] A process of making a pile fabric from an animal pelt comprises attaching a releasable backing to the free ends of the pile of the pelt, severing the pile from the pelt, attaching a permanent backing to the severed pile ends attached to the releasable backing and then removing the releasable backing from the free ends of the pile. The releasable backing may be embossed so that the embossing is transferred to the finished fabric, the permanent backing may be applied in a stretched condition so that, upon removal of the releasable backing, the fabric shrinks to give a closer pile. The permanent backing may have a further backing attached to it and the Specification describes various kinds of backings.
