Abstract
1,256,850. Treating polyester fibres. INVENTA AG. FUR FORSCHUNG UND PATENTVERWERTUNG. 11 June, 1970 [12 June, 1969], No. 28392/70. Heading B5B. [Also in Division D1] Filamentary material of polyester is given increased adhesion to rubber by treatment with an N-glycidyl compound. Freshly spun filaments may be so treated, e.g. before or together with a conventional spinning finish, followed by stretching, or finished yarns, e.g. for use in tyres, are treated. Such yarns may also be treated with a resorcinol-formaldehyde latex before incorporating into tyres. In examples, melt-spun polyethylene terephthalate is treated with an emulsified paraffin oil finish together or after treatment with one of the following, which may be used in aqueous or methyl glycol solution: N-glycidyl phthalimide, N,N<SP>1</SP>- bisglycidylpiperazine, N,N,N<SP>1</SP>,N<SP>1</SP> - tetraglycidyl - p - phenylene diamine, N,N - bisglycidyl - # - aminocaproic acid glycidyl ester, N,N - bisglycidyl - p - aminobenzoic acid glycidyl ester, N,N,O - triglycidyl - p - aminophenol, N,N - bisglycidyl aniline, N,N - bisglycidyl benzene sulphonamide and N,N,N<SP>1</SP>,N<SP>1</SP>- tetraglycidyl hexamethylene diamine.
