Abstract
1,256,836. Clamps. L. L. ROGERS. 9 July, 1970, No. 33404/70. Heading E2B. An invalid support, for a bed 21 having a head 22 and a foot 23 at opposite ends of the bed and in parallel relation, comprises a generally horizontal bar 25 extending longitudinally of the bed and invalid support means 26 mounted thereon, posts 27, 28 rigidly secured to the bar and depending therefrom in outwardly spaced parallel relation to the head and foot respectively, a clamp member 39 slidably mounted on each post for engagement with the top of the respective head and foot, a transverse member 38 underlying the lower end of each post and means securing the member to each post, and a clamp member 41 slidably mounted on each end of the member 38 for engagement with the sides of the head and foot. The clamp members 39, 41 loosely fit the posts and member 38 for easy sliding movement thereon when in aligned relation and are adapted to bind against the posts and transverse members when canted with respect thereto; the transverse member is formed of spring material and adapted for biassing the clamp members into clamping engagement with the top and sides of the head and foot of the bed. In a modification, the support is adapted to be attached to a head and foot comprising a tubular frame.
