[Also in Divisions F1 and G1] A device for balancing the carburetters of an I.C. engine comprises a chamber 1 with two air inlets 6 and 7 and an outlet 5, a mask 8 to vary the area of the inlet 7 and a whistle 9 within the chamber operated by air from the inlet 6. In operation, the device is placed on a carburetter intake, which intake surrounds the outlet 5, and the mask 8 is adjusted until the whistle 9 emits a loud note. With the mask 8 in the adjusted position the device is placed on the intake of the or each remaining carburetter which is adjusted to produce the loud whistle note. The device may be formed of opaque plastics material and the base-plate 3 covered with a layer of felt, plastics foam or rubber. The mask 8 may be retained on the device by a projection, e.g. a ring, fastened to the device above the mask.
