Abstract

1,256,353. Sheet forming. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 12 March, 1969 [22 Dec., 1967], No. 58295/67. Heading B5A. A permeable seat cover is made by vacuum forming a thermoplastic sheet over a mould and perforating the sheet whilst it is still on the mould. The perforation may be effected by pins housed in the vacuum ducts of the mould, by a plurality of separate pins each pressed through the sheet into the ducts, or by a set of pins carried by a member which is pressed against the mould. In the latter case, the member may carry an embossed design which is imparted to the moulded cover during the perforation and may carry a peripheral skirt effective to trim the cover from the excess sheet material during the perforation. The sheet may be a single solid layer or such a layer in combination with a cellular layer.
