Abstract

[Also in Divisions H1 and H2] A vehicle interior lamp is arranged to be switched on and off manually by successive depressions of the transparent front cover of the lamp. This cover is connected at one end to the trough shaped body of the lamp by hinges 34 and has limited sprung movement towards and away from the body at its other end. Each of these movements deflects the end 54 of a helical spring 51 arranged around a shaft 39 so that an end projection 55 of the spring rests on a contact 43a of a star wheel 43 or a contact 42a of a star wheel 42 alternately after each deflection, the star wheels being arranged in conjunction with a ratchet wheel so that after each deflection of the spring they successively rotate by one notch. One star wheel is connected to fixed contact 45 and the other is connected to fixed contact 50, both these fixed contacts passing outside the lamp body. The lamp bulb 56 is supported in a bulb holder 57 which has a contact 61 passing outside the lamp body and contacting one bulb contact, the other bulb contact being connected to either fixed contact 45 or 50 via sleeve 40, shaft 39, spring 51 and either star wheel 42 or 43 respectively.
