Propelling. - An outrigger support for an airship or aeroplane propeller driven through bevelgear by a shaft at right-angles comprises a system of stays arranged so as to be only under tension or compression, or subject only to very small bending-moments. A propeller-shaft casing b, r is connected at one end to the aircraft frame by three stays q<1>, q<2>, d having their axes converging to a point, preferably on the axis of the propeller shaft. Two stays r<2> corresponding to the stays q<1>, q<2> connect'the other end of the casing r to the frame, and, to prevent rotation of the casing, a torque rod t, which is preferably duplicated as shown, also connects points outside the axis of the propeller shaft to the frame at t'. The stays have preferably ball or pin joints to prevent bending- moments on the stays. Alternatively, two struts may extend from two points on the casing to the framework, and four pairs of wire stays be employed to complete the bracing. In this case, the axes of the struts and stays need not intersect.
