Abstract

1,255,724. Guard rails. J. DAVENPORT Ltd. 5 June, 1970 [18 June, 1969], No. 30802/ 69. Heading E1B. A guard rail or the like comprises a rectangular hollow post A having apertures a' through which circular section tubes or rods pass to provide spigots on which square section top and bottom rails B, B' have an interference fit. Intermediate rails or a mesh panel may be welded between the top and bottom rails. A rod a<SP>2</SP> for keying in concrete is also provided. The square section tubes are pressed onto the spigots which may be tapered or split to form a lead in and have a knurled surface for grip. The rails may be dimpled to accurately position the spigots therein.
