Abstract
1,255,714. Larding pins. K. J. KJELLGREN. Oct.3, 1969 [Nov. 1, 1968 (2); Nov.26, 1968], No. 48606/69. Heading A4R. A larding pin comprises an elongate hollow body 1 detachably screwed into a handle 2 at one end and fitted with a detachable sharp tip 11 at the opposite end, and includes a stop which retains the larding substance within the food product when the pin is withdrawn after being passed completely through the product and having its tip 11 removed. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the stop comprises a piston 5 mounted in a tubular body 1. A stop plate 7 is integrally secured to the piston 5 by a connection (6) extending through a longitudinal slot 8 in the tube 1. In use the larding substance is filled into the tube 1 through an enlarged portion 9 of the slot 8 with the stop 5 retracted to the handle 2. After passage of the pin through the product the tip 11 is removed. The body 1 is then withdrawn whilst holding the piston stationary relative to the product. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, the body comprises a channel 101 with a removably interfitted channel cover 107. A tongue 106 on the end of the channel 101 provides the stop. In use, as the channel 101 is withdrawn whilst retaining the cover 107 in the product the tongue 106 passes over the larding substance. Thereafter the channel 101 is pivoted relative to the cover 107 so that the tongue 106 moves to a radial disposition in the channel 101. The cover 107 is then withdrawn and the tongue 106 retains the larding substance within the product.
