Abstract
1,255,259. Carburetters. GURTNER S. A. Feb. 14, 1969 [Feb. 22, 1968], No.8251/69. Heading F1B A carburetter having an automatic enrichment device comprises a feed chamber 2, Fig. 1, having a maximum filling level corresponding to that of a float chamber 1, which communicates with a jet 7 and with the float chamber 1 by a conduit 5 including a valve 3 which is open when the engine is at rest and is closed when a predetermined engine operating condition is obtained. Operation: When the engine is stopped the valve 3 is open so that chamber 2 is filled to its maximum level. When the engine is started the crank-case pressure acting in the chamber 12 through the non-return valve 14 closes valve 3. The depression on jet 7 primes the enrichment circuit via conduits 5, 6 and the chamber is progressively emptied, the engine being hot enough to cease enrichment when the chamber 2 is empty. When the engine is again stopped the valve 3 is opened and chamber 2 is filled at a speed which ensures that engine is cold when the chamber is filled. A control air throttle 18<SP>1</SP> restricts the enrichment circuit in the idling position of the throttle. In a modification the valve 3 is replaced by an electromagnetic valve energized by an engine alternator. In further modifications the jet 7 is arranged upstream of the air throttle or is connected to an auxiliary air inlet of the main fuel circuit.
