Abstract
1,254,285. Water sprinkler. WRIGHT RAIN Ltd. 21 Oct., 1969 [29 Oct., 1968], No. 51225/ 68. Heading B2F. A rotary water sprinkler in which water from a nozzle 36 on the rotatable body portion 21 thereof impinges against the spoon shaped head 11 of a swing arm 10 has a detachable boss 22 fitting in an enlargement 13 in the swing arm and arranged to be mounted on a bearing pin 24 on the body portion 21, the arm 10 and boss 22 having interengageable locking means. The arm or boss may have circumferentially spaced tongues 25 corresponding with axially extending throughways 17 on the boss or arm giving access to an undercut recess 18, the two components thus being held together by a bayonettype fixing. The boss and arm may be made from materials having different wearing characteristics. A coil spring 33 surrounding the boss 22 causes the arm to spring back periodically after deflection by the water jet such that a tail portion 12 on the arm engages an anvil 37 on the body portion 21 causing the latter to move angularly an incremental amount to enable the area being watered to be varied. The sprinkler may have a sectoring mechanism whereby the increments occur through a predetermined sector only and then returned to its starting position.
