Abstract

1,254,250. Breast cup frame. S. & S. INDUSTRIES, Inc. 30 Oct., 1970 [3 April, 1970], No. 51746/70. Heading A3V. A breast cup frame 16 made from a U- shaped stiffening member 10 of resilient wire of rectangular cross-section, encased by a sleeve-like member 14 of ovoid cross section having its bulkous portion 18 projecting radially inward from the concave inner edge 22 of the stiffening member 10. The cross-sections of the members 10, 14 share a vertical axis of symmetry, but are asymmetrically placed about the horizontal axis, the stiffening member being closer to the tapered portion 20 of the sleeve-like member. The sleeve like member is preferably of polymeric material, is applied to the stiffening member by methods such as immersion, spraying, or moulding, and is shaped by heat treatment. At each end of each frame is a tip 12 of synthetic resin. The cross-sectional area of the bulkous portion 18 preferably decreases from the centre towards the ends of the frame.
