Abstract

In an arrangement for the irradiation of samples by the core of a swimming pool nuclear reactor, the vertical tubular receptacles or thimbles, containing the samples, are positioned by hydraulic actuators. The receptacles may be positioned automatically in correspondence with reactor parameters. The receptacles 10 are mounted within a water-jacket 19 and each displacement carriage 3 is associated with a single receptacle. Each carriage is mounted on rails 4, 5, and is operated by hydraulic actuators 6, 7. The samples to be irradiated are contained in the tube 20.
