Abstract

1,254,046. Coin totalizing. BURROUGHS CORP. 2 July, 1969 [18 July, 1968], No. 33366/69. Headings G4A and G4D. A coin totalizing system includes two binary counters driven by pulses produced in response to money entered into the system, the counters controlling a plurality of decimal numerical display devices via a binary-coded decimal decoder. As shown, binary counters 100, 110, 120, 130, 40, 50, 60 count up to 5, 2, 5, 2, 10, 10, 10 respectively. Pulse generators 160 each produce a pulse in response to each 1, 5, 10, 50 cent coin inserted respectively, and pulse generator 170 produces 5 pulses in response to each 25 cent coin inserted. Thus with the connections shown, counters 100, 110, 120, 130 count cents and counters 40, 50, 60 count dollars. Multi-cathode display tubes 460, 450, 440, 400, 380 are controlled from the counters via decoders 360, 390, 410, 420, 430.
