Abstract
125,283. Furniss, T. June 20, 1918. Roofs and roofing.-In connecting concrete slabs for roofs or gables of the type having in the opposing sides grooves or recesses which stop short of the ends of the slabs and receive loosely fitting metal weather bars to form contraction joints, the bars are formed with an upright member c, lateral channelled extensions c<3> and a split portion c<1>, c<2> projecting beyond the surface of the slots and bent over to form a cap as shown. The bars are rustless and made of lead or other soft metal, and the extremities of the split ends c<1>, c<2> are beaded or the like to form channels to run off moisture. Any moisture which finds its way past the cap is caught in the channels c<3> and passes from the lower ends thereof through small holes to recesses on the undersides of the slabs. Specification 115,581 is referred to.
