Abstract

1,252,368. Basic dye compositions. CIBAGEIGY Ltd. 11 June, 1969 [11 June, 1968; 25 July, 1968 (5); 18 April, 1969], No. 29550/69. Heading D1B. Anhydrous stable solutions of basic dyes which contain in a proportion of 15 to 50% by weight a salt derived from a strong inorganic acid and a basic azo, methine or azamethine dyestuff, a diarylmethane or triarylmethane dyestuff which contains at least one primary or secondary amino group bound to a phenyl nucleus, or an acridine, azine, oxazine, thiazine, xanthene or anthraquinone dye which contain the anion of the strong inorganic acid as an anion in an organic solvent which is at least partially miscible with water selected from an alkylene glycol, an alkylene glycol ether containing more than 4 carbon atoms, a low molecular aliphatic carboxylic acid containing up to 4 carbon atoms or an amide thereof or a mixture of such solvents. Preferred solvents include ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, glycerine, thiodiglycol, formamide, dimethyl formamide, formic, acetic and propionic acids and non-ionic and cationic surface-active agents may be present. Solutions which boil at above 80‹C. are preferred which contain dyes having trimethylammonium or cycloammonium group which may be attached to a heterocyclic 5- or 6-membered ring.
