[Also in Divisions C3 and D2] Articles, e.g. pipes, comprise asbestos fibre, hydraulic cement and a non-foaming anionic dispersant. Dispersants referred to are sulphonated substituted aromatics, their polymers and polycondensates, and their salts, and also sodium and calcium lignosulphonates. The articles are made by slurrying the fibre, cement and dispersant in water, laying on a surface to form a sheet, forming the sheet into the article, e.g. by winding on a mandrel to form a pipe, and drying. Preferably the slurry contains also a polyacrylamide and a filler, e.g. of silica.
