125,140. Chance & Hunt, Holley, A. E., and Mott, O. E. June 10, 1916. Nitro compounds.-Liquid nitro compounds, for example molten trinitrotoluene, are washed by a counter-current of water or other washing-liquid in apparatus similar to that described in Specification 124,461, comprising a series of vessels on a level provided with agitating-means and separators on the same level, the flow of liquid being caused by the head produced in the separators. The separators may be spaces communicat ng with the pots about half-way up, and with connexions at the top and bottom for the transfer of the two liquids. The nitro body is fed in at one end of the apparatus and the washing-liquid at the other.
