Abstract
1,250,709. Programmed textile-treating. KANEGAFUCHI BOSEKI K.K. 28 April, 1969 [24 Sept., 1968 (2); 20 Nov., 1968; 25 Nov., 1968; 21 Dec., 1968], No. 21482/69. Heading D1L. In the automatic liquid treating, e.g. dyeing, of at least two batches of material contained in separate baths the following operations are successively carried out for each bath in an order and at periods independently set for each bath, the stages of each operation being fixed with a' predetermined time-lag between them; (a) feeding water into the bath to a predetermined level; (b) feeding from a main vessel predetermined quantities of the desired main treating liquid and washing liquid containing any main treating liquid remaining in the vessel into the bath; (c) feeding to the vessel a predetermined quantity of the desired auxiliary treating liquid from a vessel, one of which is provided for each different auxiliary liquid; (d) circulating the resulting mixed liquid through the material and; (e) discharging the liquid from the bath. Apparatus comprising the above components together with the necessary pumps, valves and conduits which are programmed to effect the process above is claimed per se. The following features are preferred: (1) for ensuring slow delivery of the auxiliary liquid to each bath the liquid is, in its turn, pumped rapidly from the auxiliary vessel to a second vessel having a small bore outlet through which the liquid trickles under gravity to the bath; (2) compensation may be made for slow liquid take-up by materials which would cause level-indicating devices to give false readings; (3) automatic ventilation valves may be provided to avoid pressure changes inside closed vessels during filling and emptying and; (4) to prevent frothing of liquids, circulation through the material may only take place when the liquid level is high enough. The programme may operate electrically via control relays. The circulation of liquids radially through material wound on a hollow support is described.
