Abstract
1,250,563. Knitting. WIRKMASCHINBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB. 19 Feb., 1969, No. 9012/69. Headings D1C and D1K. A single cylinder circular machine is equipped with a semi-circular welt dial pivotable about a horizontal axis for transferring loops held by welt instruments from one side of the cylinder to the other to close a tube. Each instrument comprises at least two parts, one part having a hook to receive a loop, the other a tongue for transfer. The hook is variously constructed to allow the loop to slip over to the tongue when the dial is pivoted. The hook of the one instrument may be grooved or slotted to receive the tip of the tongue. Alternatively the instrument may comprise two identical hooked parts, or have an additional hook attached to it, between which the tongue engages. In other embodiments co-operating surfaces on the tips of the hook and tongue abut one another when the instrument is closed. In still further embodiments the hook and tongue overlap and are resiliently pressed together. The parts of the instruments may slide in common, or separate grooves.
