Abstract
1,249,249. Filter leaf. BRITISH TITAN Ltd.. 10 Dec., 1969 [26 Dec., 1968], No. 60227/ 69. Heading BID. A rectangular filter leaf adapted to be covered with filter cloth comprises a peripheral frame enclosing a plurality of externally grooved panels, the frame and panels being made of polypropylene and being loosely secured together by interengaging tongues and grooves 9, 13, 14, 11 to allow for expansion when the leaf is immersed in hot titanium dioxide-sulphuric acid slurry to be filtered. As shown the frame has integral tongues 9, 11 engaging slots in panels, but the slots could be in the frame and the tongues in the panels. Tongues may be formed non-integrally as 13 and 14. The frame may be a one piece moulding or made up by morticing or welding four sides together. The upper side of the frame incorporates a filtrate outlet (6).
