Abstract
1,249,225. Magnetic drum data stores. KOMBINAT ZENTRONIC VEB. 17 Jan., 1969, No. 2793/69. Heading G4C. [Also in Division H3] A matrix-type head-selecting arrangement, e.g. for a magnetic drum store, uses writing, reading and switching amplifiers to which selecting voltages can be applied, each switching amplifier having an input transistor controlling two transistors of opposite polarity types. In Fig. 1, for writing or clearing, one of 24 heads AWK1. . . AWK24 is selected by enabling one of 6 writing amplifiers SPV1 . . . SPV6 with a selecting voltage at Z1 . . . Z6, and one of 4 switching amplifiers SV1. . . with a selecting voltage at S1 . . . . For reading, one of the heads is selected by enabling one of 6 reading preamplifiers HV1 ... HV6 with a selecting voltage at Z1 ... Z6, and one of the 4 switching amplifiers SV1 ... as before. A final reading amplifier EV is provided for output. Fig. 2 shows a switching amplifier, in which the selecting voltage at S enables or disables a transistor T1 to disable or enable respectively both of two mutually-complementary transistors T2, T3, the emitters of which are earthed via AE and the collectors of which are connected to the relevant heads at AC. Oppositely-poled diodes D49, D50 carry current during writing and clearing/reading respectively. Application to automatic invoicing, book-keeping and accounting machines is mentioned.
