Abstract
1,249,130. Resilient joint. FABBRICA ITALIANA MAGNETI MARELLI S.p.A. 24 Dec., 1968 [27 Dec., 1967], No. 61389/68. Heading E2F. In a resilient joint pivotally connecting a member 1 to a member M consisting of a sleeve 4 inserted in an opening (2) in the member 1, and formed with an inner bore to receive a pivot pin P on the member M, the sleeve is formed with, on the outside, radial projections 6 and a flange 7 to locate the member 1, and, on the inside, a rib 4, groove (Fig. 9, not shown) or taper (Fig. 10, not shown) to locate a complementary part P' of the pivot pin P. To assemble the joint, the radial projections 6 are brought into registry with complementary notches (5, Fig. 4 not shown) in the member 1, and the sleeve 4 is inserted into the opening (2) until the flange 7 abuts the member 1. The sleeve is then rotated until the radial projections 6 are offset from the notches (5), and may be locked in this position by a boss 8 engaging in a hole 3. Finally, the pivot pin P is pushed into the bore in the sleeve until the complementary parts 4', P' engage. The sleeve 4 is formed from a plastics material, and the flange 7 is made more flexible by the provision of holes 9. The flange 7 may be provided with notches (10, Fig. 8 not shown) for receiving corresponding projections on the member 1.
