[Also in Division H3] A glass for an ultrasonic delay line consists of (in weight per cent):- SiO 2 .. .. .. 57 - 78 PbO .. .. .. . 8 - 19 Al 2 O 3 .. .. .. 0À5- 9 Na 2 O .. .. .. 0 - 11 K 2 O .. .. .. 0 - 20 (Na 2 O+K 2 O) .. .. 9 - 20 Compatible metal oxides or fluorides .. .. 0 - 10 The compatible metal oxide may be As 2 O 3 and/or Sb 2 O 3 . Preferably the glass has a temperature coefficient of delay time less than 1À5 x 10<SP>-6/</SP>‹C., and an attenuation factor of less than 10 x 10<SP>-3</SP> dB. per cycle over 1 MHz.
